Thanks to all of our supporters in The Victoria Advocate’s annual Crossroads ‘Best of the Best’ contest, Cuero’s Christmas in the Park has once again received the top honor in the Best Holiday Event category — for the 8th consecutive year!
We were recently asked by the Advocate to talk about the award and our event’s popularity in the Crossroads area.
How long have you been in business in the Crossroads?
Started in 2000 with the lighting of the gazebo in the Cuero Municipal Park, Cuero’s Christmas in the Park has grown in 19 years to showcase more than 250 lighted scenes and more than 250 snowflakes in the trees.
What would you consider to be the key to your success?
Not only that the donations received allow for the additions/improvements to the grounds, but the dedicated support of the city/volunteers to make this event happen.
Why do you think our readers voted for you?
Because they appreciate the community effort in providing this free event. This has become a regional family holiday viewing tradition. Numerous folks said, “Best year ever,” as this was the first year for all-LED bulbs.
What is your most popular product?
Besides the complete drive-thru, maybe the hot chocolate nights or the live nativity scenes in December. This is like asking which one of your children do you like best.
What does it mean to you to be Best of the Best in your category?
That the readers appreciate the humongous effort that it takes to present this event. We are already purchasing new scenes for this year.
